PSPC Members Attend 7th WCPCCS in Barcelona
The PSPC Delegation at the 7th WCPCCS in Barcelona, Spain
As stated by the convention’s Organizing Committee, the aim of WCPCCS is to bring together all professionals involved in the care of children’s heart disease and congenital heart disease of all ages, from the fetus to the aged. The Congress likewise provided a unique opportunity to meet the leaders of specialties worldwide; to learn about the latest innovations and the results of procedures; and to contribute to the discussions, debates and plenary sessions with renowned speakers.
The central philosophy of the Congress was “bridging together” all major specialties in the field. Accordingly, the scientific program was carefully planned to address all interests and expertise with concentration streams on pediatric cardiology, pediatric cardiac surgery, adult congenital heart diseases, anesthesia, intensive care and nursing.
The PSPC members distributed themselves in the different lectures to make sure that most of the sessions were attended.
During the convention, some members who presented their research papers in the poster presentation were: PSPC Board of Director Dr. Maria Ronella Francisco ( “A Retrospective Cohort Study to Evaluate Use of Paracetamol Compared to Ibuprofen for Medical Closure of PDA among Preterm Infants”) and Dr. Concepcion Sison (coauthors: “Clinical Profile and Treatment Outcome of Blood-culture Negative Infective Endocarditis (BCN-IE) in Children: A Ten Year Retrospective Study” and “Clinical Profile and Outcome of Peripartum Cardiomyopathy among Teenage Patients at the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital”).
During their trip, most of the members (in groups) also had a tour of Barcelona, Spain and its nearby locations.
A round-table discussion (RTD) on the highlights of the scientific lectures of the convention is set on November 7, 2017 at the PHA Tektite Heart House Tektite Tower Ortigas.
