2018 PSPC ANNUAL GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

The annual general membership meeting of the Philippine Society of Pediatric Cardiology was held last May 23, 2018 at the Kamia Room of the EDSA Shangrila Hotel, during the first day of the Annual Convention of the Philippine Heart Association. There were 86 members who attended the meeting which was presided by Dr. Ma. Corazon Estevanez.

New members were inducted by Dr. Estevanez to the society. The new Regular members are: Dr. Emiliana U. Curameng, Dr. Maria Cristina Joy T. Irorita, Dr. Jethro M. Macallan and Dr. Eleanor Florencia M. Portigo.

The new Associate members are Dr. Marivic Leon-Bala, Dr. Hasmin B. Salamat-Millora, Dr. Ma. Rosita S. Quitola and Dr. Babie Catherine R. Causapin.

In her Presidential Report, Dr. Estevanez gave a list of the activities of the society for the past year, which included scientific activities for continuing medical education such as round-table discussions and attendance in international conventions. Likewise the lectures given by PSPC members in various scientific conventions were reported. The contribution of Dr. Edison Ty of sharing scientific journals through viber was also acknowledged. This year’s main scientific activity of the society is the 7th PSPC Biennial Convention.

The main community projects of the society included the Camp Braveheart last February 2018 led by Dr. Maricel Regino (Chair of PHA Council on Congenital Heart Disease) and the Christmas gift-giving and sports clinic in coordination with Fairplay Foundation in Payatas last December 2017. The society also embarked on a fund-raising activity by sponsoring PETA’s “Tagu-taguan, nasaan ang buwan?” last August 2017. Likewise, Dr. Estevanez reported that the PSPC Officers and Board had a total of 8 meetings during the year.

Dr. Juan Reganion (PSPC Treasurer) gave his report and Dr. Ninfa Villanueva (Over-all Chair of 7th Biennial Convention) gave a summary of the convention.

The election of new officers was also done during the meeting. After the ballots were counted and the elected members have met, the new set of officers of the society are as follows:
