PSPC All-set for its 27th Annual Meeting and 7th Postgraduate Course

The Philippine Society of Pediatric Cardiology will be having its 27th Annual Meeting and 7th Postgraduate Course on May 20 -21, 2019 at the Century Park Hotel, Manila.

The Officers and Board of Directors of the PSPC together with this year’s Organizing Committee has been working for months in preparing this year’s event with the theme: SPECTRUM of  911: Neonates to Young Adults.

The scientific committee chaired by Dr. Maria Estrellita A. Alarcon prepared a comprehensive scientific program starting with the session on Back-to-Basics: “How to Mend a Broken Heart” followed by case-based lectures on different cardiac emergencies in children. The other sessions are Cardiac Emergencies in Infants: “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, Cardiac Emerencies in Children: “Un-break my Heart” and Surgical Emergencies in Cardiac Patients: “Where do Broken Hearts Go?” The six (6) cases that will be presented are on cyanotic heart disease in a neonate, large shunt in an infant with heart failure, cyanotic heart disease in an older child, congenital heart disease in heart failure in an older child, cardiac tamponade and acute abdomen/ trauma in a cardiac patient. CME units of the postgraduate course are as follows: PPS: 29.5 units, PMA: 70 units, PHA: 75 units, PAFP: 20 units Category II and PRC: 14.5 units

The other working committees and their committee chairs are Way and Means Committee (Dr. Marinella Francisco, Dr. John Reganion and Dr. Juliet Balderas), Committee on Physical Arrangement and Commercial Exhibits (Dr. Rey Lapak and Dr. Kim Tolentino), Awards Committee (Dr. Maricel Reyes and Dr. Mayette Rosqueta), Publicity Committee (Dr. Rachelle Niñalga), Socials Committee (Dr. Gerry Acosta)Speakers Bureau Committee (Dr. Virginia Mappala and Dr. James Angtuaco), Registration Committee (Dr. Margaret Foronda and Dr. Connie Sison) and Case Report Contest Committtee (Dr. Martha Santiago).

The general assembly and annual business meeting will be held after the sessions on day 1 to be followed by a Fellowship Night with the theme “PSPC goes K-Pop”.

The 4th Interesting Case Report in Pediatric Cardiology to be participated in by Pediatric residents-in-training in PPS accredited hospitals will be held after the sessions on Day 2.
