PSPC Prepares for 7th Biennial Convention in 2018

The Philippine Society of Pediatric Cardiology (PSPC) is preparing for its 7th Biennial Convention with the theme: THE HEART OF THE MATTER- Common and Uncommon Symptoms of Heart Disease in Children on May 21 – 22, 2018 at the Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila.

Together with the PSPC Officers and Board of Directors, the organizing committee’s Over-all Chair of the convention is Dr. Ninfa Joson-Villanueva and co-chaired by Dr. Maria Ronella Francisco, The Scientific Committee is headed by Dr. Edison Ty (Chair) and Dr. Maria Concepcion Sison (Co-Chair).

The Dr. Evelyn Singian Memorial Lecture will be delivered by PSPC Past President Dr. Rhodora de Leon. The topics of the lecture will be of much interest to health providers who care for infants, children and adolescents with suspected and actual heart diseases.

The topics on the first day include chest pain, palpitations, syncope (cardiac and neurologic causes) and cardiac murmurs. On the second day, topics include updates on myocarditis, Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease, Metabolic Syndrome and hypertension, heart failure, guide to inotropic support and cardiac intervention procedures in children. There will also be a talk on government subsidy of interventions in children with cardiac disease.

The 3rd Interesting Case in Pediatric Cardiology for Pediatric Residents- in -training in accredited hospitals of the Philippine Pediatric Society (PPS) will be held on the the first day after the scientific lectures, to be followed by a Fellowship Night for PSPC members and guests.
