
PSPC Bids to Host APPCS in 2022

The Philippine Society of Pediatric Cardiology has officially submitted its bid to host the Congress of the Asia Pacific Pediatric Cardiac Society (APPCS) in 2022 to the society’s President Dr. Poppy Roebiono of Indonesia.
The Asia Pacific Pediatric Cardiac Society (APPCS) which was founded in 2006, is a society of Pediatric Cardiologists, Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgeons and other physicians and allied health personnel in the field of Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease in Asian and Pacific countries. The APPCS holds a biennial congress wherein clinicians, researchers and world class experts come together to exchange knowledge and experience in the care of pediatric cardiovascular disease.
Included in the presentation to bid are the following: proposed instructional design for the congress and lists of previous international and national conventions of the society. Also included are letters of support and endorsement from the Presidents of the Philippine Heart Association and Philippine Pediatric Society, and subspecialty societies such as Philippine Heart Rhythm Society, Philippine Society of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologists, Inc., Heart Failure Society of the Philippines, Philippine Lipid and Atherosclerosis Society, Philippine Society of Cardiovascular Cathetherization and Interventions, Inc., and the Philippine Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons, Inc..
Possible congress venues included were Manila, Cebu, Iloilo and Davao. Lastly, a showcase on “Why choose the Philippines?” was also presented.
Among the member nations of the APPCS, only Pakistan gave a bid aside from the Philippines. The chosen country to host the congress of the APPCS in 2022 will be announced in mid-June 2019.
The last congress of the APPCS was held in Bali, Indonesia last August 30 to September, 2018 while the next is on April 2 to 5, 2020 which will be held in Taipei, Taiwan.
